It has been awhile - Orts Super Bowl update

Last weekend's impromptu bowling party gets a bit of a re-do this Saturday as we begin the countdown to the Steelers vs the Packers on Sunday.
There will be pizza, hotdogs, and who knows what else. So come prepared to eat.

There were some requests for the recipe for those corn chip-peanut butter-chocolate things I made. As it happens, they have a name, Fabulous Funky Frito Fruckies. Fruckies? Are you kidding me? Whatever.

Here's the recipe in brief...
Ingredients:
# 10 1/2 ounces corn chips
# 1 cup white sugar
# 1 cup light corn syrup
# 1 cup creamy peanut butter
# 11 (1 5/8 ounce) milk chocolate candy bars

Directions:
1. In a greased 10x15 pan, place the corn chips.
2. In a saucepan, bring the sugar and corn syrup to a boil over medium heat.
3. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter until smooth.
4. Pour this over the chips and smooth it out level.
5. Place the chocolate bars in a single layer over the hot mixture and wait a few minutes until the heat melts them and then smooth the chocolate out to form a thin layer.
6. Allow to cool and then break into pieces.

I'm trying them with dark chocolate for a SB lunch at work on Friday.

The 2010-'11 Season is almost here!

My how time flies.  Why does winter drag on and on and on and on and on and summer flies by in what seems about two weeks?

Anyway, the 2010-'11 Orts bowling season is coming soon. Bowling will begin on September 11.  

However, we are planning a “pre-season” bowling get together on Saturday, August 28 starting around 7:00.  Many of us will be using the opportunity to bank a bowl-out, while others will just try to loosen the kinks.  Yet others will simply be performing the liver's equivalent of Zumba training :)   

This is a great opportunity for you to bring along somebody(s) who might want to take the Orts for a test drive, or for some of our former members to join us for one night of fun. Even if you are not planning to come back for the season, you are more than welcome to come join us on the 28^th.

If you are going to rejoin the Orts, a couple of things to know:

Bowling will be $12 per week ($9 for bowling and $3 for kitty).

Because of the wide variety of tastes in adult beverages and the fact that it had become break-even, the beer cooler is history.  It’s bring your own tasty refreshment.  

Also, we have finally given into pressure from the Lanes and have moved our starting time to 6:30.  (other than the 7 o’clock start for the preseason thing on the 28^th.)

We are a winter mixed league bowling at the Westmont Lanes in Johnstown, PA.
While all are welcome to stop by (and increase our post count, :) ) this site is intended to serve members of the league. Therefore you may come across inside humor.
